IT'S OCTOBER!!
Happy October everyone!!!! I'm so excited that it's finally October because that means only 30 more days till Halloween!
I'm so sorry I haven't been updating recently. I've been so busy with school and studying that I just haven't been able to find ample time to sit down and write a meaningful post.
So, this is called "The Life of a College Student", so here are 10 college survival tips that I've learned so far:
1. Don't go out on a Thursday night. You will regret this in the morning.
2. Make sure you study. This is kind of obvious, but some people don't. Just sit down and study. Better safe than sorry.
3. Do your homework! Make sure you do all the homework, because you get a big fat 0 if you don't.
4. Be responsible about your decisions. If you do decide to break number 1, be ready to be responsible for that decision Friday morning.
5. Have fun. Let loose! Just because you're in college doesn't mean you have to stay holed up in your room studying forever. Let yourself get involved in different clubs and activities. Go out on Friday/Saturday nights with your friends.
6. Make sure you always have groceries/water. I run out of water so quickly it's ridic. Especially since I live in AZ, water is essential. Also make sure you always have some kind of food in your room, not just to-go boxes.
7. Be courteous to your roommate...especially if you don't know them!! Try to be the type of roommate that you want to have, even if you don't have them. I've been having some major issues with my roommate, but I'm still respectful of her stuff, sleeping/study habits. Even if your roommate is not courteous back to you, you can at least say, "I tried."
8. Call/email your parents. Now that you're on your own, don't just cut ties to everyone in your family. Believe it or not, they do miss you and want to hear from you. Feel free to call/email your parents everyday. The college transition is just as hard for them as it is for you.
9. Put headphones in. Always, always, always put headphones in when you listen to music/watch tv if the other person is studying. The noise can be distracting. Remember, it's their room too.
10. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. This will come back to bite you in the butt. Try to stay on top of studying/homework/projects/papers. You won't regret it. You'll regret procrastinating when you find yourself the day before the due date and you haven't even started that paper yet!!
I hope these help all of you college students out there. I know I'm only a freshman and I'm learning too, but these are things that I have experienced that can be helpful for anybody.
I hope you're all having a wonderful school year and HAPPY OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rachel
