Thanksgiving...whaddup?

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving that was spent with family, friends, and delicious food. I know I did, and I loved every minute of it. I was home from school for 5 days, and it was the best 5 days I've had in a while. I love being home. I especially love my room. My bed. My pillows. Love, love, love.

My mom and I began the cooking marathon Wednesday after I got home from Tucson. I made the pies, and she put together some casseroles to take to my aunt's house to bake. It was a loooong day of cooking, but totally worth it, lemme tell ya. On Thursday morning, I woke to a turkey in the oven, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. (Fun fact: I was in it last year! here's a photo:

I don't have any actual photos of me in the parade, but these were the special Spirit of America issued jackets that we had to wear EVERYWHERE. No joke.)
Anyway, we watched the parade and the dog show and then began to finish cooking for the family to come over. We made mashed potatoes, stuffing, and the turkey, of course. It smelled so good in my house, just thinking about it is making me hungry again!

When the family came over, we set out the h'ordeuvres, had the table set, the drinks poured, and then we sat down to eat. My uncle carved the turkey, a family tradition, we said prayer, and then got our food! It was so delicious. I wish I brought back leftovers with me.

I so enjoyed getting to talk to my family and spend time with them. I got caught up in the lives of my cousins, and we talked about college and life in general. It was such a happy holiday.

On Saturday, my brother and I put up our Christmas lights and our tree. We have a massive tree that takes at least 2 days to decorate. I'll get pictures when I go home in 2 weeks. It's gorgeous and I love it. I'll also try to get pictures of my house and the decorations we put up. We go all out for Christmas.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and has a wonderful Christmas!!

Love,
Rachel
