Inspired
So I was just reading huge love and one of her posts inspired me. It is the one about being beautiful on the inside. I have resolved, a few times now, to stop gossiping about people I do not get along with/am upset with. It's difficult but this post truly inspired me to try harder and give it a 110% effort.
I know that sounds incredibly cheesy, but I thought about my last post, and it made me realize that I do need to try harder. Not that I have said anything bad about the friend mentioned in the last post, I'm just having a little, baby epiphany here. I am not a very religious person, but I do pray to and believe in God. I know that if I pray to him every night/morning I can become the person that I am striving and aspiring to be, not only physically, but internally as well. I know that we all have those days where we are just not in a good mood and every thing and everyone is just grating on our last nerve. In these instances we really need to push ourselves to try to remain calm and polite. People will think better of you for it in the future, and I think that you will feel better about yourself in the future as well. I know I've had moments where I reflect back on something I've said/done and cringed on the inside just thinking that I actually said/did that. I believe that you've all had those moments too. I am feeling really motivated to go out and become a beautiful person on the inside. I just want to say something nice to everyone I see! Hopefully, this will start to make me have less of those "cringe" moments and more moments to be proud of/happy about. I know this doesn't really relate to college, but it can. It can relate to any stage of life you are in.
Please go read that blog post. It will really get you thinking and hopefully inspire you to become a better person, too! I can guarantee that it will at least get you thinking about your actions. A little self-reflection. (:
Also, here are a few more (hopefully helpful) tips for all you college students!
1. Know your limit with alcohol. I know this one sounds a bit silly, but really. Know when to stop. Just because someone offers to get you a drink DOES NOT mean that you have to take it. Trust me on this one. It's not fun when you go past your limit..
2. If a problem/friction/conflict arises with a friend, roommate, suitemate, or whoever, try to talk it out. Make the effort to say, "I'm sorry" or "What's wrong? You seem a bit sad. Is it something that I've done/said?" Making the effort is the best you can do. If they brush you off, don't push it. Just give them time to cool off which means a) don't bother them b) give them their space. Go study, enjoy the weather, find something else to do. This could be all they need to approach you to work it out or to get over their issues with you.
3. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Make sure you give yourself enough time to study before your tests! I know I've said this one before, but it really is important. Studying can never hurt you, only help. Keep that in mind.
4. Pick up after yourself. Your roommate may not appreciate your mess.
5. Get a planner. I don't know why I haven't thought of this one before, but get one. They are so beneficial because they keep you on top of things. You may say, "I'll forget to look at it!" I did too. But guess what. You won't. I've been using one everyday since junior year, and it has saved my life. It can save yours too.
So that's all I have so far!
I hope you all are having a happy fall, and if you live in the cold, stay warm! Drink some hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for me. (: It is way too hot to do that here yet.
Love always,
Rachel
