Am I a Grown Up?

Here's a question for you. 

When are you an adult? 

Legally, of course, I am an adult, but in all reality? I don't know. When do you "officially" become an adult. Is it after you graduate college? When you have your first bills to be responsible for? When you get a career? 

I don't really have an answer. To me, being an adult is when  you're independent from your parents in all aspects. You're financially independent, you have a job, you're living on your own, etc. Though, one may never be an adult, at least mentally. 

While I may be 22 years old, I definitely still act like a kid, and sometimes I even still feel that way. Venturing out and doing things on my own is tough for me, especially if there is someone around me who can do it instead. If I'm on my own or I have to do it, I can do it easily and confidently (think making appointments, going someplace kind of new, making arrangements, etc.).

While I may look and act (occasionally) like an adult, I don't think I am one. I am mature for my age and as put together as I can be (I hope!), but I still feel like a kid. 

Another question could be, will I ever really, truly feel like an adult or will my mentality stay young forever? I kind of hope it's both. 

Today's post was a little out of the blue. I just thought of it, although the concept or idea is something I actually think about a lot.
