August 21 OOTD- Orientation Edition

Hello folks!

I had orientation for my grad program today, hence the pretty late post. Here's what I wore for it (we were taking photos which is why I was more dressy than usual):

Blouse: Charlotte Russe- 3 years ago
Whiteish/cream chiffon, button front. There's breast pockets on both sides, and I roll the sleeves, as always. (I realize it looks a bit dirty, it's because this is OLD).

Skirt: Kohl's
Black skirt that hits just above the knee. There is lace detail at the bottom and black ribbon detail around the top. It zips up on one side and comes up around the belly button.

Sandals: Ross. I LOVE these. They have gold buckles on the "outside". You can see in the picture the buckles go down the front on those 3 straps, but up on the ankle portion, there are also 3 gold buckles. They're leather straps. The soles are really flimsy, but for everyday wear, they're really comfortable! I love them. The ankle straps come up to just under the maleoli (ankle bones).

Foundation: CoverGirl Tru Blend in "Sand Beige". I rarely ever wear any makeup on my face, but today was a special day, so I busted out this bad boy. I liked it because it didn't feel heavy on my face. I hate liquid foundation because it makes my skin feel like it's suffocating, but this was light and wonderful! AND it was humid as shit out today, but I still didn't feel like my skin was dying.

Powder: Maybelline FitMe in Coconut? I use pressed powder more than liquid foundation. I don't like this very much because this does make my skin feel suffocated. I get very oily with this. It works for now though.

Dude, I know. The lighting does nothing for the color. Also, hey reflection!

Blush: Hikari in "Tango". This is from ipsy. I LOVE this blush! It's a beautiful hot pink that has more blue than orange in it. It works well with skin tones that have a cooler undertone. It comes out very bright, so be aware.

Bronzer: Tarte in "Park Ave Princess". This came from ipsy, and today was my first day using it. I think I went a bit too light with it; I was worried it would be too dark. I think I like it. I'll try it again sometime and let you know.

Eyes: Natural by Love and Beauty, Forever 21. This is really old, but I really love it. It's like a sort of wannabe Naked palette. I love the colors. The lighting is terrible, again, but there's a whole range of browns. The darkest is a really dark brown, almost black, with goldish tones, the middle ones are lighter browns and golds, and the right end is pale neutrals and tans.

Eyeliner: Revlon ColorStay eyeliner pen, and Maybeline Ultra Liner. I've been using the bottom one for years. I used it for dance and loved it so much, I still use it. I've been using the eyeliner pens for maybe 2 years now? I love those, too! They're really easy to handle and draw great lines! A good "starter" way for liquid. I use it because I'm too lazy to use just the liquid liner, plus it gives a nice solid bace to trace over.

Mascara: L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes and Revlon Lash Potion. I use the first for length and the second for volume. I love both, although the Revlon can get clumpy. I just pull the brush along the side as I pull it out of the tube to get a lot of the excess off.

Here's a glimpse. I'm proud of my hair for holding up in 60% humidity.

WOW.

Anyhow, there's now a mouse loose in my house somewhere. I almost caught it, but then it ran off and disappeared. If it's in my room, I'm going to freak. I've got two traps set, both in rooms where I saw it, so hopefully it's trapped in the morning.

I'm pooped. Orientation was long. I got there at 10:45a for pictures (which were 10:30-11:30), and I didn't get home till after 6p.

À demain,
Rachel
