14 years ago, I was in third grade. I remember waking up for school, getting ready to head out the door, and hearing the news on in the background. My dad was sitting watching, my mother standing in the doorway. Everyone was focused on the tv. 

I was still too young to fully comprehend what was happening, but when I watched the plane fly straight into the second building, I knew it was bad. I couldn't understand what happened. Why would someone do that? Didn't they know that you couldn't just fly a plane into a building? 

I heard the word "terrorist" and became more confused. What did that mean? What was going to happen? 

I don't remember much else from that day, but I remember going to school, still a bit confused about what I had seen. 

Later that week, we were told to wear red, white, and blue. We went out onto the field at school and made a flag, or so we were told. I think a news plane flew over us to see it.
